This is almost a non-story, tbh. India is in joint drills with Britain &amp; extended courtesy to our guests so that they don’t have to unnecessarily risk life &amp; property trying to land on a ship in choppy waters.

Just make sure they leave this time asap instead of centuries later.

The technical issue forcing carrier aircraft to divert to land is usually something preventing landing on the carrier, but not landing elsewhere. On many carrier aircraft that would be something with the tail hook, but in this case it might be a lift fan problem (F-35B has no tail hook).

At that point you don't have too much time to try to fix it in the air before you have to divert somewhere else to land, or eject. Ejection is not the preferred option, both because aircraft are expensive and because pilots with injuries that prevent them flying any more are expensive.

International media have reported that britain has been moving its jets to the middle-east, likely for potential involvement in the attack on Iran. That attack is expected to carry on for some time, possibly with even forces on the ground, till the western powers are confident that they have sufficiently degraded iran's nuclear capabilities. I wonder if the kammi-sudu axis in kerala didn't know about this. Expecting at least a march to the airport or condemnation of it from pinarayi or baby.
